I have had another busy week with mock up designs.
I redesigned Christina’s invitations, to include their names in a new font, and am trying a larger ribbon on it as well. I also created a co ordinating RSVP card for them to see.

Chelsea is my first 2010 bride, and my first bride using my fairy tale invitation. Which I am SUPER excited about. She actually told me that she contemplated changing her color scheme to match my invitation, if I did not create it in her colors. Which I can do, no problem. But I honestly don’t think I could have been paid a bigger compliment.
I designed it in a soft pink, but the one features the color with hints of a lighter shade, and the other has hints of a darker version of the pink. (All images use the lighter invitation, both cards are shown in the last photo). The really neat thing is how much a simple change like that can impact the whole appearance.
I did not have an engagement picture lying around, so I borrowed a photo from my own trash the dress shoot taken back in May, by the amazingly talented Jer Wilcocks.

I love being able to incorporate some really cool themes into my projects, and Ashley’s design was just such an invitation. Her winter wedding has a “snowflakes and chandeliers theme, and I think the idea is incredible. This is a really fun bride, and I am excited to have been able to work with her and her mom, coming up with their perfect invitation.

The most elaborate, time consuming, and intrinsic invitations I have had to make are Chris and Lisa’s. Hand cut, scored, stamped and folded, these little presents will delight their guests, and set the tone of their wedding – which is “you, friend, are part of this day too.” I love this couple’s mentality. Their wedding day is a celebration, and they want everyone to feel as though they are an important part of it. I can not wait to get these to this couple, but will be sad when they don’t need me anymore… They have been a joy to work with.
I have been working on a few weddings this week, and here are their mock ups. Christina and Drew have a gorgeous purple and white theme, and needed invitations that reflect their Scottish traditions that will also be a part of the wedding. This was the first time I had a custom stamp created, and I am really pleased with the outcome. Drew is a graphic designer, and helped tremendously with the layout. I love collaborating with clients to create the perfect invitation that reflects their uniqueness as a couple. Location has been removed, which is why there is some missing text.
Katie and Jake came to me this week, excited to use photos from their amazing engagement shoot. Katie loved the look of the tall, slim invitations I have designed in the past, and was hoping to make that style work with her ideas. The color scheme for their outdoor wedding is green, black and silver. One of the things I am most excited about with these invitations is that Katie is the first bride willing to try a blank RSVP card. I LOVE them, but most brides are nervous about creating them. What is really great about them is guests will often include a little note to the happy couple, expressing their enthusiasm for the upcoming day. I kept my RSVP cards; they are sentimental, and I would have loved to have had more hand written notes on them. All of the cards will be numbered, and matched up with the guest list, in case those invited forget to sign their names… What was also pretty cool was that Jake and Brad had worked together ten years ago, and the four of us turned an hour long consultation into a three and a half hour long visit.

Hurray! I can finally blog my most favorite invitation ever. Cora’s daddy told me she was his most favorite person in the world, and I should make these fabulous. So I did. Six hours of designing later, with many versions and attempts thrown in the trash…
What you can’t tell is that the invitation is 8.5 x 5.5 inches, so, larger than it may look here… The paper is hand woven at the bottom (cool, basket weaving skills are put to the test). The butterflies are die cut, then the edges of each are hand painted… then the glitter goes on each. After the butterflies, and the weaving is the stamping, the sponging, and inking the edges. Add a little glitter to Cora’s name and event title, tie a Swarovski crystal flower on the front, and TADA! My most detailed, time consuming, fun sweet invitation ever. So far….
