Chris and Lisa have been some of my favorite clients. We have been working together for almost a year now, and their joy and appreciation has been refreshing. They are organized, and thoughtful people. They are one of the reasons I wish there were excuses to stay in touch with clients after they say I do.
Chris and Lisa have meal choices for their reception at the Retro Suites in Chatham. When talking to the caterer, there was some discussion about how to make sure every guest gets the right meal, without having any confusion, or having to ask each guest. What we came up with was co-ordinating their place cards with the wedding invitations, while subtlety letting the caterer know who ordered what. So we chose to do black cards for those who ordered beef, and white cards for those who ordered chicken. The vegetarian meal is done on a silver card, and all were stamped with the same stamp I used on the wedding invitations themselves, to create cohesion and a bit of interest on the table.
Chris and Lisa – I hope you have a beautiful day. The joy and delight you have for one another now is going to continue through your lifetime, and you’re going to be that adorable little couple holding hands in your 90s. I know it.
Normally I get to posting a bride’s invitations before I really get going on them. Claudia’s invitations are all done. Which is an amazing feeling. Her guest list includes almost 160 families, and the process in making these was labour intensive.
I really like Claudia and her fiance Mark. I would describe their interaction as having a certain quiet sensibility to it, which I really enjoyed watching. There is a lot of mutual respect in the way they make decisions, and it was a pleasure to design their invites. It was important to Claudia that we incorporate a poem that was important to her, as well as a photo that their fabulous photographer, Jer Wilcocks, took of them. We came up with a design that also includes an embossed monogram, and a shimmer swirl design on the side.
Congratulations Claudia and Mark, on your upcoming nuptials!!
The great thing about ordering custom invitations is what I did with Claudia’s rsvp cards. Rather than leaving a line on each card that could be filled in for “__ seats have been reserved in your honour”, the bride lets me know how many of each number she needs. So Claudia needed 110 RSVP cards that said “two seats have been reserved in your honour”, another 14 that said “four seats have been reserved in your honour” – and so forth. They look particularly classy this way.
