Sam is fantastic. She’s Aunt Sam at our house now (what’s not to love about a job that extends your family??) She is strong, and determined and opinionated. And has a heart of absolute gold. She is always willing to help. She brings out the smiles in me, and we have more fun over Tuesday dinners each week than I have any other day. So making her present for a wedding she MC’d at this past weekend was a treat.
Why did Sam choose to do this for her friend Steph? Here’s the speech she shared at the wedding:
“First, as many of you may have noticed there was no guest book when you came in and you can blame me for that. In the 10 years that I’ve known Steph we’ve been a lot of things to each other, from sworn enemies to drinking buddies to shopping partners. But the most important thing Steph has been to me is a source of constant, honest, caring advice. While I’ve know her since before she knew Steve, she’s known me since before I really knew myself. She’s the only girlfriend of mine that has been through every relationship and breakup with me, family struggles, life crises and every day drama. As a wedding gift, I wanted to be able to return the love & advice she’s given, but I knew I couldn’t do it alone. So, at each of your table settings you’ll find a note card with an incomplete phrase….this is their guest book. Complete your phrase with advice that will help Steph & Steve in their journey as husband and wife. You can be funny, sentimental, whatever you’d like. Don’t forget to sign it, then put it in the envelope and drop it in the box on the seating chart table. At the end of the night the box will be filled with as much love as is in this room tonight. Steph, I know that you’ve been waiting a long time to know what I was up to and I only hope that you & Steve find as much comfort in the words that are shared with you today as I have found in yours over the years.”
Congrats Stephanie and Steve!!
I love these. Blind hits are SO classy. Photographers put SOOOO much time into your wedding photos – the day of, and the editing after; of course your disc should be handed to you custom wrapped…. The cases are made of our in-house paper – Crane Lettra in pearl white – the only paper designed specifically for letterpress. The insert is a sturdy vellum, to keep discs from scratching.
Jer Wilcocks is one of my favourite photographers – he is incredibly talented and ever evolving in what he does. Find him on facebook and follow him on twitter.
It has been SOOOOOO long since I sat down in my studio just to create cards for fun. I honestly think it’s been about a year – which is sad because my love of card making is what brought me into this thriving invitation business I have going. It’s been an incredibly fun and inspiring diversion.
What’s not to love about chunky champagne glitter??
I used strips of brown suede ribbon, as well as metal hardware to add texture to this card.
A grunge, altered sort of look…
The advantage of owning your own letterpress? Running out to the garage mid play-time to create blind-hit “Thank You” card fronts. And, what’s not to love about combining it with a genuine Swarovski heart?
Letterpress, genuine Swarovski square, and plaid ribbon. Simple elegance.
Clear embossing powder, chunky glitter, Swarovski heart – love….
One of my favourite invitation styles, just “for you”. I love feathers…
I love you. And Plike paper. And really cool frames…
Simple and elegant.
The background design in yellow was letterpressed…
This was my favourite – because I love my friends, and because I love anything that has that rockin’ grunge look. The background was sprayed with glitter, the word friend was laquered, and there is just a lot of texture going on…
